This course will open again in the Fall
As the title suggests, our "12 days stuffed into 8 days" journey is a self-study mini-course designed to develop your child's hand-sewing skills while diving into the FUNdamentals of sewing. Led by the passionate and experienced Giselle Ysidron, this challenge is more than just sewing; it's about nurturing creativity and building essential life skills.
Sewing isn't just about stitching fabrics together;
it's a transformative and educational experience for children.
Here's what sewing can do for your child:
Build Confidence and Boost Self-Esteem:
As they create beautiful projects, your child will gain confidence in their abilities and develop a strong sense of self-worth.
Encourage Independent Work:
Sewing empowers children to work independently, enhancing their decision-making and problem-solving skills.
Improve Fine Motor Skills:
The precision required in sewing helps refine fine motor skills, setting a strong foundation for various activities.
Develop Logical and Problem-Solving Skills:
Sewing involves planning, measuring, and troubleshooting, all of which promote logical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
Instill Patience and the Ability to Focus:
The meticulous nature of sewing teaches patience and the art of concentration, valuable skills for life.
Create Community and Aid Socially and Behaviorally:
Joining the sewing community fosters social skills, teamwork, and good behavior, providing a well-rounded experience.
At SewKids!, we believe in the transformative power of sewing that goes far beyond just crafting. Here's why our "12 Days of Christmas Stuffed into 8 Crazy Days" challenge is truly exceptional:
Creativity Unleashed:
Sewing is an extraordinary outlet for creativity. With each stitch, your child can bring their unique vision to life. From choosing fabrics to designing patterns, they'll explore their artistic side and develop a keen eye for detail.
Stress Relief for Kids (and Parents!):
In today's fast-paced digital world, it's crucial to find activities that help children and adults alike unwind and destress. Sewing offers a peaceful, meditative experience that soothes the mind and alleviates anxiety. It's a calming oasis in a hectic world.
Less Screen Time, More Hands-On Learning:
Concerned about the hours your child spends in front of screens? Sewing provides the perfect antidote. Engaging in this analog hobby encourages children to put down their devices and immerse themselves in a tactile, screen-free activity. It's a breath of fresh air for their minds and bodies.
At SewKids!, we're not just about teaching sewing; we're passionate about introducing children to the concept of slow fashion and its positive impact on our environment. What's slow fashion, you ask? Slow fashion encourages mindful consumption, promotes quality over quantity, and champions sustainability. By learning to sew, your child becomes part of a movement that values craftsmanship, reduces waste, and minimizes the environmental footprint.

Yes, adults can join the fun! It's recommended for ages 6+... we welcome all :)
Although the challenge is designed for kids in such a way that the lessons are simple and easy to understand, the projects reflect the interests of the kids (we do fun little projects), the principles are the same.
In fact, if you are an adult who wants to learn how to sew but feel intimidated with "adults" programs, this is a great way to test the water. You can learn at your own pace and not feel overwhelmed by complicated projects.
If you are a parent, I recommend doing the challenge with your child. It's a great activity to do together and is a wonderful bonding experience.
Yes, Absolutely!! SewKids! is all about family. When you register for the challenge, all your children may participate.
You will share one login for the mini-course.
Spending family time crafting and doing activities such as sewing is a great way to bond!
I’d definitely recommend SEWKIDS! My daughter attended the mother’s day session and really enjoyed it…so much so that she had me take her to the fabric shop the following day to buy fabric and work on making more!
My daughter went to a workshop and she had an absolute blast! She keeps asking for more… Thanks for getting her interested in sewing which I find is an absolute plus to learn for later in life!! You might be responsible for the next generation of elite fashion designers.
